ILS Nursing Institute, Agartala, established in 2011 in the premises of ILS Hospitals, Agartala-799010, introduced Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery(GNM) Course with the objective to prepare clinical nurse practitioners. ILS Nursing School is presently operating GNM Course in Agartala with an annual intake of 50 seats per year with a well equipped infrastructure and distinguished faculty. The ILS Nursing Institute is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) as well as Tripura Nursing Council (TNC).

Located in West Tripura, ILS Nursing Institute offers many modern facilities for student’s overall growth like sports, hostel facility, T.V room, indoor games and sports area, etc. along with both girls and boys hostels of total capacity of 160 residents.

The total area of ILS Nursing School and Student Hostel building has four separate classrooms, audio-visual aid room and computer lab for the students along with a well stocked library. It has Nutrition and Nursing Foundation labs for the better guidance of nursing students.

The students are provided with hostel which are run as per INC norms. The rooms are well furnished with cots with mattresses, tables, book racks, chairs, cupboards etc. and other amenities like 24 hours running water, electricity and telephones.

  • Candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary (+2) or equivalent course with English as a subject and must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks from any recognized Board.
  • She/he must have passed from any stream i.e. Science, Arts and Commerce.
  • Age should not be less than 17 years and not more than 35 years as on the date of admission.
  • The candidate should be a Citizen of India.
  • All relevant certificates are to be produced in original with self-attested copies at the time of admission
  • Submission of vaccination cards along with Hepatitis B vaccine and Chicken Pox vaccine before admission is mandatory.
  • Both Male and Female candidates are eligible for this course.


  • Selection will be based on the performance of the candidates in written test(MCQ questions) followed by viva-voce and a medical test. List of eligible candidates after each phase shall be displayed in the notice board.
  • The ILS Nursing Institute shall not bear any expenditure incurred by the applicants for attending written examination, viva-voce, medical test etc.


Course: Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM)

Duration: 3 Years (includes 6 months internship)

Commencement: October


  • The eligible candidates should collect the admit card from ILS Nursing Institute, at the time of submission of the application form for admission.
  • The date of admission test will be announced by a circular on the Notice Board.
  • The subjects for the admission test would be General Knowledge, Mathematics and English (up to last year 12th standard syllabus).
  • Candidates are to carry black or blue ball point pen and pencil during admission test.


  • Eligible candidates are to submit applications in the prescribed “APPLICATION FORM” along with a passport size photograph.The photocopy of the application form will not be entertained. Application Form shall be available along with this prospectus.
  • The Application Form should be duly filled up neatly and correctly by the candidate in his/her own handwriting.
  • Admission fees Rs.24,000 should be paid in advance by the candidates for provisional admission in subject to that they should get pass mark in the entrance examination. The coaching classes will be conducted through online(due to lockdown) for the candidates who paid the admission fee. The online coaching classes date will be inform later. If any candidates who will fail in entrance examination, the amount Rs.22,000 will be refunded after deducting Rs.2,000 amount. The duration of the entrance examination will be 1 hour and MCQ questions will be asked from 4 subjects like G.K, Maths, Science and English and total marks will be 50.
  • The duly filled Application Form is to be submitted to the Principal’s Office of ILS Nursing Institute, Agartala within the due date. Any application submitted after the prescribed date will not be entertained.
  • The devices like mobile and calculators will not be allowed inside the examination hall.
  • During admission, qualified candidates should submit the following:
    • First installment of Tuition fees
    • Undertaking/Affidavit should be signed by the student/parent (or) guardian for anti-ragging in Non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.20.
    • Rs.2,500 /- towards SNA fund for the following articles
      • First aid box with articles and jewellery
      • Long size notebook.
      • A4 size paper(2 bundles).
      • Sketch pen/Eraser/Scale/Thermometer/Nail cutter/Sharpner/pencil.


The institute shall have the right to cancel admission or studentship of any student during the session if she is found guilty of any of the following:

  • Suppressed and /or false information
  • General misconduct of a student
  • Any other means of indiscipline
  • Non submission of vaccination report


The fee structures for the above courses are furnished in a separate sheet along with this Prospectus. There are two yearly installments during the months of August and May. The fine/penalty Rs.100/ will be collected for late payment.


Students of ILSNI will receive training from our distinguished faculty members, as well as from other visiting experts from different institutions of Agartala.


ILS Nursing institute uses its parent hospital i.e. ILS Hospital is a multispecialty hospital for clinical practice of its students. ILS Nursing Institute has tie-up with government hospitals and community centers for clinical practice.

The institute has given tremendous emphasis in creating most advanced facilities in laboratories. The institute has Nursing Fundamental lab, Community and Nutrition lab, Advance Nursing skill lab, OBG and Paediatric lab, Preclinical science lab, Computer lab and A.V. Aids lab. All the laboratories are well equipped as per INC Norms.


There are 4(four) classrooms with an adequate and comfortable sitting arrangement for 60 students in each room.


The institute has its own transportation system for students. There are 3 buses each with 50 seat capacity.

  • All students are required to live in the Hostel located in the campus.
  • Rooms are provided with the furniture. The list of things the students should bring for their stay at the College will be given at the time of joining.
  • They should not bring any valuable jewellary. The college will not take any responsibility for loss(or) theft.
  • Food will be provided in the Mess attached to the Hostel. The charges for each month will be communicated every year and must be paid before the 10th of every month.
  • Parents and students are required to read and sign the rules of the Hostel formed by the Management. The same will be given to the students at the time of selection.
  • Mobile phones are strictly not permitted.


ILS NI Library is equipped with more than 800 hundred books, journals, magazines and Local and National newspapers. The following journals are available in the institute.

  • Nightingale Nursing Times
  • The Nursing journal of India published by TNAI
  • TNAI Bulletin
  • Loka Shhasthya Sambad published by the Voluntary Health Association of Tripura


If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be asked to give an explaination and if her/his explaination is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel her from the institution.


After successful completion of the course, the candidates will be posted in various branches of ILS Hospitals like Agartala, Salt lake, Dum dum, Howrah and other Private Hospitals.
